If you are reading this it’s probably because you have already heard or seen for yourself what our homeland is all about, so we are just going to give you a sneak peak of what you will see if you decide to tie the knot in paradise.

Our fees include three Notary Public deeds (two affidavits concerning the marital status, and date of birth of bridegroom and bride, and the civil deed of marriage), and registration before the Costa Rican authorities.

Registration of the marriage in the couple’s home state or country must be handled by local attorneys according to international laws.

Our services are guaranteed to be handled by one of Costa Rican leading law firms in international matters.

In order to proceed with the registration of a civil marriage in Costa Rica, our office shall require some personal data and documentation of the prospective bridegroom and bride.

We will therefore appreciate if we can be provided with the following:

1. A complete copy of the passports of the parties will be required.
2. Full names and last names, citizenship or nationality, occupation, marital status, addresses, passport numbers, places and dates of birth of parties. This information must be e- mailed as soon as possible.
3. Full names and last names of the parties’ parents (mother’s maiden name) and their citizenship or nationality. This information must be e- mailed as soon as possible.
4. If either party has been previously married, we will require the names of the former spouse as well as an official copy of the divorce decree or decision, duly authenticated by the Consulate of Costa Rica with jurisdiction over such court. If the bride was divorced within 300 days prior the date of the upcoming wedding, we will require a negative pregnancy test duly authenticated by the Consulate of Costa Rica with jurisdiction over such court. Please fax this documentation as soon as it is authenticated.
5. If either party is a widow or widower, we will require the names of the former spouse as well as an official copy of the divorce decree or decision, duly authenticated by the Consulate of Costa Rica with jurisdiction over such court. If the bride widowed within 300 days prior the date of the upcoming wedding, we will require a negative pregnancy test duly authenticated by the Consulate of Costa Rica with jurisdiction over such court. Please fax this documentation as soon as it is authenticated.
6. Birth Certificates. Please fax it as soon as it is authenticated.
7. We will require two witnesses in the ceremony in order to confirm that the bridegroom and bride have no other marriages pending to be dissolved. The witnesses also must render an affidavit as to the legal capacity of the bridegroom and bride. Please inform us if the parties will provide the witnesses. The witnesses can be of any citizenship, unrelated to the bridegroom or bride, and they have to provide their identification in order to sign the public deed. For this reason we will need their personal data (Full names, occupation, citizenship or nationality, address, passport number or cédula if Costa Ricans).
8. Legal capacity to be married to each other may vary upon the country where the wedding takes place and where the marriage is registered. Therefore, parties must be legally capable of getting married according to Costa Rican laws. Among these conditions, please take note that NO legal marriage can take place between parties of same gender, between direct relatives such as parent and their sons or daughters (this condition applies to adopted sons or daughters), between siblings (does not apply to step siblings), etc. We will warned any cause for ineligibility after reviewing the data and documentation provided.
9. We will require any information that can be provided concerning the relationship of the parties prior to the upcoming wedding, for instance: if there are children of both, common assets, etc., in order to advise the parties as to other legal requirements.
